About Us

Carolinas Lutheran Women was officially formed on October 8, 2011.

As sisters in Christ led by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to dedicate ourselves to serve God by using the gifts we have received to reach out to others.

To accomplish this purpose, our organization is committed to  participating in the ministry of women beyond our own church congregations and communicating with other church organizations.

With God’s blessing and direction, we look forward to growing and linking congregations together as we gather for prayer, study, support, and action.

Our History

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

1 Peter 4:10-11

In April 2011, 50 women representing 20 different church congregations throughout North and South Carolina gathered and expressed interest in forming a women's organization of Lutheran members that would link congregations together.

A planning team of seven came together with the task of forming a non-profit organization that would be partnered with NALC and LCMC and open to all Lutheran women in the Carolinas. And, on October 8, 2011 Carolinas Lutheran Women (CLW) held its very first Convocation as an officially formed organization!

Held at St. James Lutheran Church in Newton, NC, the first Convocation had a total of 81 women present, representing twenty North and South Carolina church congregations. During the Convocation, the CLW Mission Statement, Purpose, and Council were established. With these foundations, CLW events and Annual Convocations have grown from the twenty affiliated churches in 2011, to over forty this year!

Carolinas Lutheran Women is excited to continue growth and service for many years to come, and hope that you will attend the next CLW Annual Convocation in the fall!
